9 am – Welcome and free play – Children and parents are welcomed by staff. The children self register their names and choose their free play activities.
9.30 am – Snack time – Children go to the toilet and wash their hands before their snack. They find their names at the table, as they join the staff who sit with them. Children are asked to carry out roles e.g. handing around plates, cups or the snack to the other children. Makaton is used to support spoken language as they choose what they would like to eat or drink.
9.50 am – Child initiated and adult led activities – The children have the choice of activities such as role play, construction, making and painting. These are available for the children to access both indoors and outdoors. Some children have small group time with their key person, who leads the activity focusing on the child’s interests.
11.30 am – Break – Tidy up time. All children are offered a drink of water.
11.40 am – Story time – The children have a story in the story room, this includes singing and celebrating their achievements.
12.00 pm – Changeover –Those only doing a morning session are collected by parents, those staying go and wash their hands in preparation for lunch.
12.10 pm – Lunch – Children find their name at the table and unpack their own lunch box. They also chooses what they would like to drink. Makaton is also used here to support spoken language. This time is an opportunity for the children to develop their social skills.
12.45 pm – Free play – A variety of resources are available for the children to choose from.
1.00 pm – Child initiated and adult led activities (we like a balance of both) – The children have the choice of activities such as role play, construction, mark making, painting and other creative opportunities. These are available for the children to access both indoors and outdoors. Some children have small group time with their key person, who leads the activity focusing on the child’s interests.
2.30 pm – Tidy up time – All children are encouraged to help to put the resources away in the correct places.
2.40 pm – Story time – All children return to the story room and have a story, sing songs and celebrate their achievements.
3.00 pm – Collection time – All children are collected by parents and carers.
