COMMITTEE

The Committee

Greenslade Pre-school is a Committee run Pre-school with charitable status. Our Pre-school cannot legally run without a Committee. There are specific roles on the Committee for example Chair and Treasurer whilst others choose to just be a member.

Our Committee is made up of parents and carers and we meet approximately every 6 weeks. Whilst fundraising can be a big part of being on the Committee, the Committee is also responsible for other decisions for example maintenance of the building, pay and equipment purchasing.

Letter from our current Chair:

My name is Lee and I am the current Chairperson of the Committee. I started at the beginning of my youngest Eddie’s second year at Greenslade who followed in the footsteps of his older brothers Louis, 5, and Ronnie, 16, who all thoroughly enjoying their time at the Pre- School.

You may not be aware that Greenslade is a charity; the money raised by the Committee through various events provides vital funds for our Pre – School. Whilst fundraising is a huge part of the Committee’s role, we also work alongside our amazing teachers to maintain the success of the Pre – School. Government funding provides a proportion of what is necessary to run the school, but day to day activities would not be possible without the input of the Committee and all the fundraising activities we do.

You don’t have to be a committee member to help either- supporting our events or ad-hoc requests posted on our notice board really does help. We are always on the lookout for raffle prizes too. If you, or anyone you know, owns a business and would like to donate a raffle prize, big or small, we would be very grateful.

I’ve already learned so much about the running of the Pre-school, and the impact of COVID over this period and the efforts of the staff to keep everything running has been and continues to be amazing. I personally really miss some of the playground pickup interactions with other parents and staff, and we hope as things begin to get back to normal we can re-establish some of that community that I know many of us know Greenslade for.

Our most recent Autumn Fair raised a record amount for the Pre – School and it wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts of the Committee, staff and everyone who volunteered to help. Not forgetting everyone who came along to support it of course! Look out for the next one as well as our fashion show which was a big hit before COVID struck

We all want the best for our children, so it would be great if you would like to join the Committee, we do need a certain minimum number to continue to operate, but it’s the more the merrier and with children and parents coming and going it’s always good to have some new faces and ideas to join the group.

Thank you for reading this and for any help and support you can give us.
